Expert Consultation on Entry Points and Recommendations for a Swiss Engagement in Green Inclusive Economic Development

Within the framework of its new cooperation programme 2021-2024 for Egypt, Switzerland has added a specific outcome on environmental action, with the objective of Government, private sector and civil society develop and implement policies and practices that support institutional development, green growth and sustainable urban development. The objective of this assignment is twofold:

1. Present a thorough analysis of Switzerland’s cooperation programme in Egypt with regards to greening the economy and mainstreaming the environment. The analysis shall include ongoing and planned projects, their approaches and contributions as well as alignment with national strategies and give recommendation on better greening the portfolio.
2.  Identify new possible engagements in the area of green growth with a specific inclusion and poverty alleviation angle, based on SDC’s core mandate: “Through its development cooperation with the South, the SDC contributes to reducing poverty in 21 priority countries and four priority regions across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. It supports these countries and regions in addressing the obstacles to their development and their global challenges. The SDC’s development cooperation supports many areas of focus among which the creation of jobs and sources of income, local economic development, and support to private and public actors in assuming responsibility for sustainable development, and improves the prospects of young people and women in particular by promoting their social, political and economic integration”.
