Under the leadership of Egypt, the GCAFTI will be piloted in the country with select private sector clients in the green sectors and where EBRD, AFD and AfDB have previously invested, with a special focus on clients in the Renewable Energy Framework, Agriculture and Infrastructure and gender mainstreaming within all of them. Furthermore, GCAFTI will also, under the guidance of Ministry of International Cooperation (MOIC), reach to national institutions such as the Ministry of Environment and the Department of Climate Change, National Council for Women (NCW), Ministry of Manpower, Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and other ministries and governmental agencies as guided by MOIC to draw best practices in fast tracking gender-responsive climate outcomes which other countries could also duplicate . The respective experience of the international development institutions and national partners will help design and implement action towards 3 main areas; women in climate leadership and gender-responsive corporate climate governance to work on both public and private sector to reach symbiotic and catalytic outcomes. International climate and gender commitments will thereby be the guiding principles, in the lead-up to COP27 in Egypt. The carry out of the Terms of the References (TOR) will be managed by the EBRD G&EI team in close coordination with the AfDB, the AFD, the EBRD Egypt Resident Office (RO), the EBRD Climate Strategy and Delivery team, through a small coordination committee and as part of the EBRD’s engagement under the Feminist Action for Climate Justice as co-leads as part of the Generation Equality engagement in June 2021.
