Management and Technical Support for Solid Waste Management Component

This component aims to support the implementation of the Governorate Solid Waste Management (SWM) master plans, which outline the full range of actions and investments required in each governorate to improve SWM services according to local needs and conditions. Given the complexity and scale of the SWM system in Greater Cairo, the project adopts a phased and gradual approach to ensure tangible results. This approach includes providing technical support at the central level to the Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA) and the Ministry of Local Development (MoLD), while simultaneously delivering targeted investments and technical, financial, and project development support at the local level to the Qalyubia Governorate.

The scope of work includes

• Carry out Project Management and Construction Supervision of PPP/DBO Contract for the ‘transportation, treatment, and disposal of municipal solid waste of Qalyubia Governorate at 10th of Ramadan Site
• Prepare the Feasibility Study, Project Structuring, Bid Process Management and Supervision Works for the Establishment of ‘Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) Facility at 10th of Ramadan Site
• Carry out Project Management and Construction Supervision Works for the Establishment of ‘Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) Facility at 10th of Ramadan Site
• Prepare the Feasibility Study, Project Structuring, Bid Process Management and Supervision Works for the Establishment of ‘Health Care Waste Treatment (HCW) Facility at 10th of Ramadan Site
• Carry out Project Management and Construction Supervision Works for the Establishment of ‘Health Care Waste Treatment (HCW) Facility at 10th of Ramadan Site
• Prepare the Feasibility Study and Project Structuring Study for the Establishment of ‘Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility
• Prepare the Feasibility Study, Project Structuring, Bid Process Management and Supervision Works for the ‘Closure and Rehabilitation of Abuzabal Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Site of Qalyubia Governorate  
• Carry out Project Management and Construction Supervision Works for the ‘Closure and Rehabilitation of Abuzabal Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Site of Qalyubia Governorate
• Prepare a Plan for the Environmental Upgradation of Al-Akrasha Industrial Area
• Carry out Capacity Building activities
