Technical Study for The Creation of a Recovery and Technical Landfill Center in Tunisia

The objective of this project is to identify a suitable site for the new Technical Recovery and Landfill Center, determine the most environmentally and economically sustainable technologies for waste treatment, recovery, and disposal, and support the transition toward a circular economy in waste management. The project seeks to maximize the reuse of by-products generated from production and consumption processes, reintegrating them into the value chain and preventing their degradation into waste by treating them as potential resources.

The scope of work includes

  • Mission 1: Data collection and diagnosis on the management of municipal waste and similar waste in Greater Tunisia;
  • Mission 2: Development of an operational plan for the management and recovery of municipal waste and similar waste in Greater Tunisia;
  • Mission 3: Search and identification of sites to house the new landfill and transfer centers;
  • Mission 4: Summary Design Study and Prequalification File;
  • Mission 5: Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) with its Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) if necessary;
  • Mission 6: Analysis of climate change aspects.
