Rehabilitation and Upgrade of Al-Shaer Waste Transfer Station – Jordan

The primary objective of the project is to improve environmental conditions at the Al-Shaer waste transfer station by increasing its processing capacity and enhancing its operational efficiency. Key initiatives include constructing additional compaction lines to raise the facility’s total capacity to at least 1.5 million tons per year, installing a shredder unit for bulky waste, and establishing a fully enclosed pre-compaction facility to reduce odors and improve health and safety conditions. The project also includes expanding the leachate collection system, enhancing stormwater management, constructing a new administrative building, and improving traffic flow for waste collection vehicles.

The scope of work includes

  • Conduct regular updates and consultations with GAM, EBRD, and other project stakeholders to align on project progress and any emergent issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, environmental, and safety regulations and managing public relations to address any community concerns
  • Review and consent the contractor’s design packages and method statements, including preliminary design
  • Oversee civil, mechanical, and electrical work, monitoring contractor performance, quality control, and schedule adherence.
  • Review ESMP prepared by the Contractor.
  • Review and approve the construction management strategy
  • Review and approve the contractor’s ESMP and EPP plans
  • Review and monitor contractor’s progress
  • Review and approve shop drawings and as-built drawings
  • Review and approve O&M manuals and spare parts
  • Supervise equipment installation, site infrastructure upgrades, and construction of buildings
  • Inspect and manage defects during the defect notification period
