Alwafaa & Alamal dump site is a solid waste final disposal area for over 20 years now. The area of this site is about 320 Feddan (4,200 m2 per Feddan). The activities for solid wastes disposals are diversified in this site where the site itself nowadays became surrounded by new urban planned area. The site area became fully with solid wastes and it is time to close this site safely and is to exploit the area with new development after closing.
Alwafaa & Alamal site does possess a sanitary landfill area of about 80 Feddan which is operated by private sector Company through contract with the Cairo Governorate and the contract is due to its completion by this Fiscal year. In this regard, the area of Alwafaa & Alamal dump site should be handed over to the owner at safe environmental status to start the development of this dump site. Accordingly, WMRA of Environmental Affairs Ministry will support the owner in planning for the safe closure of the dump site and the planning for the future utilization of the site.
In line of this, the scope of this Assignment is to prepare the Closer and Post Closure care plan of the sanitary landfill (80 Feddan), The area is planned to be a recreation park.
